Swami Prajnanananda Saraswati was born in the year 1884 in Barishal district (now in Bangladesh). He understood very early from his childhood that development is not possible without independence. His aim was that of emancipation of the society as a whole through the spread of education. He fought against the imperialist power that ruled India and more importantly he inspired millions to join in this fight for freedom. He was arrested several times. He founded the Yugantar Dal feared by the government. Swamiji passed away in the year 1921.
